Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF) Overview
In Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF), players take on the role of a night security guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a seemingly innocent family restaurant hiding a terrifying secret. The goal is to survive five nights, from midnight to 6 a.m., while defending yourself from hostile animatronic creatures that roam freely after hours.
Game Mechanics
- Survival Horror Gameplay: As the night guard, your primary task is to monitor the movements of animatronics through a network of security cameras. The cameras provide different perspectives of the restaurant, but some areas are unmonitored, leaving you vulnerable to surprise attacks.
- Limited Resources: You have access to lights and steel doors to protect yourself, but these tools use up precious electricity. If you run out of power, you’ll lose these defenses and become an easy target for the animatronics.
- Strategic Decisions: Every night, the animatronics grow more aggressive. You must carefully manage your resources, balancing camera usage, lights, and doors to survive until dawn.
The Animatronics
The main antagonists—Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy—each have unique behaviors that require different strategies. If caught by any of these sinister characters, it results in a jumpscare and a return to the first night.
Controls

How to Play FNAF
- Understand Your Goal: Survive the shift (from 12 AM to 6 AM) without being caught by the animatronics.
- Monitor the Cameras: Use the security cameras to watch different areas of the restaurant. Keep an eye on animatronics, but remember—checking the cameras drains power.
- Manage Your Power: Every action consumes power (camera usage, closing doors, turning on lights). You have limited power each night, so use it wisely. Running out of power leaves you defenseless.
- Close the Doors: Close the doors when animatronics get too close. Be careful, as keeping them shut consumes power.
- Use the Lights: Check the lights outside each door to spot animatronics lurking nearby. Some animatronics won't appear on the cameras.
- Listen to Audio Cues: Pay attention to sounds like footsteps or mechanical noises to detect animatronic movement.
- Survive for Five Nights: The difficulty increases each night as the animatronics grow more aggressive. Survive all five nights to win (or unlock bonus content).
